Do you ever feel like all your energy is high up in your body, that you have too many thoughts, or perhaps you feel spaced out or a bit all over the place? Absorbing lots of what is going on around you as a sensitive being can be quite challenging, so grounding and bringing yourself back ‘down-to-earth’ is a great practice.
Think of a tree – how strong and embodied it is when it’s fully grown. The higher up they grow, the deeper their roots are. We too can be more, give more and show up more, the more grounded we are.
A great way to help ground your energy is actually getting your bare skin on the ground – walk on the grass or sand if you are near a beach, lie straight on the earth, or simply put your feet on it. Close your eyes and feel your connection with the earth.
Other things you can do are hug a tree (go for it – who cares what anyone else thinks), take a walk in an area with lots of trees as they are particularly relaxing; go swimming in the ocean, a lake or river; or you could get some flowers or plants and spend some time nurturing them.
If you can’t get outside or near any plants, then simply lie on the ground at home and feel the earth supporting you as you deeply breathe in and out of your whole being.
