Remembering that everything is happening for you
August 24, 2021Being present
September 1, 2021The spaces of seeming nothingness in our lives are so important as they allow our minds and bodies to absorb, assimilate and do what they need to. We live in a world where being busy is seen to be the only way to be productive, but there is so much magic to be found in the spaces in between.
Have you ever noticed that you get your best ideas after sleep, or doing something unrelated to what you ‘needed’ to be doing? Perhaps you remember something important after chilling out.
This is an ongoing one for me as for many years I’ve tried to fill up the spaces in my life (in my body and time) with food, drinking, shopping, TV etc.
I am still learning to sit with the space and not find something to ‘do’. I’m learning to listen to my body and not try to fill it with food, even when it’s not hungry.
By doing this I find I am able to sink deeper into who I really am.
I need space….
Space physically, in my surroundings.
Space to connect with myself.
Space to connect with others.
Space to connect with nature.
Space to hear my inner guidance.
Space to tell what’s mine and what’s not.
Space to rest and replenish.
Space to allow.
Space to be present.
Space to just be.
Where do you try to fill the spaces in your life? How can you create more space in your life?
This blog post is an excerpt from the self-care guide in my book, Embodied.
