Working with your inner critic
July 27, 2021The importance of community
August 3, 2021For years I felt like I should be going to the gym as that’s what people mainly do in London (or at least that’s what I thought). And I eventually did. I have had some great times in the gym and some awesome trainers who supported me, but in all honesty, the gym wasn’t for me. I would feel good after going, as the endorphins rushed around my body, but then they would stop and I’d find myself eating to get a rush again, also I’d feel I ‘deserved’ it after my workout.
Yoga changed that for me. Yoga helped me to develop a relationship with my body and begin to look after it on a deeper level.
Also, I found I loved long walks. I’d spend hours walking around London on my own getting to know the city. These days I take long walks in nature on my own. I find walking helps me to clear my head of all the millions of thoughts I have, or even process things if I need, and I always feel so calm and connected afterwards. I’ll even have catch up calls with friends while I walk, which works well too.
What movement do YOU enjoy? How can you fit it into your life so that it works for you? Or perhaps you do a lot of movement already and it might be time to try something new?
